Can a person passionate about casino be passionate on gambling? With this question, we will surely get a lot of reaction from people. Not all of us would agree that if you are a casino visitor you are also a gambler. My father is not a gambler nor a gambling lord. He knows a lot about gambling because of the nature of his work. His father introduced him to casino when he was in college. My grandfather did not teach him to gamble. He was just presenting to him a possible option as far as his career is concerned. My grandfather was working in the casino. He worked there for fifteen years before he opted for retirement and went into business so that he would be able to be with my grandfather most of the time. My father later on decided to work in the casino. He is now in his twenty-seventh year of service in the casino. The casino has been very good to the family. My father is very passionate about the casino. He studied the ins and outs of it. His passion for it led to his promotion as one of the supervisors of the casino. He is overseeing the daily operations of the casino together with two other assistants. They report directly to the chief operating officer. It is through my father’s initiative that the company ventured into online casino. My father said that the online casino was a new thing but they were not one of the first to have an online casino. My father may be passionate about casino but he has never gambled in a casino.

Imagine my surprise when I read an article in the April 2005 edition of Reader’s Digest informing me that membership in Future Farmers of America (FFA) has hit a 22-year record high.

Since 1994, the number of farmers’ markets around the country also has more than doubled, the article said.

I find these two bits of information especially interesting because small family farms have been disappearing from the countryside at an alarming rate over the past 30 years. According to statistics from the U.S. Census of Agriculture and the American Farm Bureau Federation, since 1969, the United States has lost 85 percent of its dairy farms.

Why do I care that the United States has lost so many dairy farms? I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, which has always been known as America’s Dairyland. Except that today, in areas where there used to be farms all up and down the roads, there isn’t a single farm left. During the same time period in which the United States lost 85 percent of its dairy farms, Wisconsin has lost 70 percent of its dairy farms.
